Lopez Tax Service, Inc. is an award winning training company which has been locally owned and operated for over 27 years. This minority owned business has been recognized in the Inc 500/5000 as one of the fastest growing businesses for 2008.

Lopez Tax Service, Inc. become a California Tax Education Council Registered Vendor in 1999 to teach the 60 hour qualifying course and the 20 hour continuing education courses for individuals who are not Enrolled Agents or Certified Public Accountants and wish to prepare tax returns for a fee. Lopez Tax Service, Inc. is a “training company”. We are constantly training not just their own employees but others in the community. Lopez Tax Service, Inc. is also an IRS Sponsor for EA’s to receive their continuing education. Lopez Tax Service, Inc. is a Notary vendor approved by the Secretary of State Notary vendors to teach the required 6 hour ethics course for new notaries and the 3 hour ethics course for renewing notaries.

Not only is Lopez Tax Service, Inc. a training company but it is also an award winning company. In 2006 we won the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Blue Ribbon Small Business Award. This was the first year that the U.S. Chamber gave this award. Lopez Tax Service, Inc. was the only tax preparation firm to have won the Blue Ribbon Award in 2006. We have won the Salinas Californian Best Tax Preparation firm 2007-2008, runners up 2008-2009. For 2006, 2007, 2008 we won The Preferred Tax Professional award from Santa Barbara Bank and Trust. In 2006 and 2007 we also were a nominee for Union Bank’s Salute to Small Business. For 2009, we won the U.S. Commerce Best Tax Preparation Firm, The Salinas Calfornian Best Accounting and Tax Service and Union Bank’s Best Minority Owned Business in Monterey County.

Lopez Tax Service, Inc. supports various soccer teams in the Salinas Valley. We encourage our employees to be active in their local community from Soledad, Marina, Salinas and Gilroy to support their local teams and events.

Prior to incorporating in November of 1999, the company was a sole proprietor with 4 full-time employees. We have been located on Davis Rd, in Salinas, CA for over 10 years. The company was founded by our CEO Carlos C. Lopez, EA in 1983. Mr. Lopez started his business by going door-to-door to local businesses and asking for referrals and seeking individuals who were looking for a change. That holds true today, the company is still looking for individuals and small businesses that seek to change and want to create a relationship with individuals who want quality tax preparation at a reasonable price. Lopez Tax Service, Inc. opened their first branch office in January of 1999 on Alisal Street in Salinas, California.

When the Mountain Valley Shopping Center on Bardin and Williams Rd. was built, we moved our second office to that location and are still there today. Lopez Tax Service, Inc. continued to expand and create more local jobs by opening another location in 2003 on Reservation Rd. in Marina. In 2004 we opened offices in Gilroy and Soledad. In April of 2007 we opened our corporate office and training center on Moffett Street where we teach Notary and Tax classes to our employees and the community.

Fifty percent of Lopez Tax Service’s full time employees have been with the company for over 5 years. Some of the seasonal employees have worked for the company for more than 8 years. Seasonal employment is a win-win situation for the employee and the employer; it gives the company consistency year after year in tax preparation and gives our clients peace of mind knowing that their tax professional will be in the same office year after year.
